Born in Berlin- Electronic sound creations emanate through 4th grade PYP curriculum.
Prompting further inquires into pioneers of electronic music, Kraftwerk and David Bowie’s new single ‘Where Are we Now’, where Bowie recollects memories of his time in Berlin.
The initial urban sounds were recorded on the streets of TorStraße, Friedrichstraße and the UBahn platform of Oranienburger Straße.
Taking further inspiration from Underworld’s “Juanita: Kiteless: To Dream of Love” students remixed their initial tracks, manipulating the sound, layering bass lines and looping further sounds.
As part the reflection process, students performed a symphony of their creations, remixing the tracks live under the direction of a conductor
All the work was recorded, mixed and produced with GarageBand on iPad and published through Soundcloud.
Furthermore students then proceeded to create QR codes for their tracks. These codes will be distributed at the location of the original recording where locals and visitors to Berlin will be able to scan the code and listen to the sounds.
Listen to the sounds:
Students are encouraged to like each others tracks and post comments through the social network feature on Soundcloud.
